Bertie Sedan Dacus

Bertie Sedan Dacus, a native and lifelong resident of Fairhope was born on June 16, 1959. She departed this life on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014.

Bertie was a 1977 graduate of Fairhope High School.

She provided more than 35 years of service as a private duty nurse throughout the Baldwin County community.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary E. Mitchell-Dacus.

Bertie leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Julius Dacus (Alyssha) of Dalton, Ga. and Gregory (Jordie) Mitchell of Fairhope; three sisters, Vanessa Mitchell, Bridget Foster (Winston) and Georgia Thomas (Lloyd), all of Fairhope; three brothers, Leslie Dortch of Atlanta, Ga., Richard Dacus of Mobile and Robert Dacus of Fairhope; a granddaughter, Jaliyah Dacus of Dalton, Ga.; five nieces, Winter Dacus, Ebony Gray, Renauda Jackson, and Sania and Neveah Dacus; two nephews, Clarence Aikens and Dameon Mitchell; a dedicated and loving uncle, Robert Charles Mitchell of Lithonia, Ga.; a devoted friend, Carla Bracy-Strecker; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at Freedom Church, 2558 Friendship Road in Daphne.

Visitation will be at 9 a.m. until the service time. Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rotary Youth Club, Fairhope-Point Clear, P.O. Box 2230, Fairhope, AL 36533. Designate funds for playground equipment.
