Anita S. Best, 81, a former resident of Montgomery and a resident of Orange Beach, died Sunday, March 30, 2008.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Augusta Tymes Simmons; husband, A.J. Best; son, Donald Best; brothers, Johnny Simmons, Jack (Elizabeth) Simmons, and Douglas Simmons.
Survivors include daughter, Marie (Steve) Tatum; brother, Monty (Joan) Simmons; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Howard and Ruby Horne, Paul and Judy Best, Sally Best, Dewey and Miriam Best, T.J. and Annie Best, Bernice Simmons; five grandchildren, Belinda Best, Jason Tatum, Bethany Webb, Brittney Best, and Brandon Best; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Julie Kate Simmons, Jeffrey Simmons, Jackie Grinter, Betty Jenkins, Doug Simmons; other nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Wednesday, April 2 at the Leak-Memory Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3 the funeral home with Dr. Perry Neal, Dr. David Grumbach and Craig Stringfield, music director of First Baptist Church, Gulf Shores, officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jason Tatum, Brandon Best, Randy Horne, Jeffrey Simmons, Rodney Best, Kenneth Jenkins, and Billy Tatum.
Arrangements are by Leak-Memory Chapel Funeral Home, Montgomery.
