Nell N. Bethea, 81, a native of Kinston and a long time resident of Fairhope, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008
She was known as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and cherished wife of 62 years. “MeeMee” was tryly grateful for all the moments spent with family and friends.
After 33 years of Civil Service she devoted much of her time as a member of First Baptist Church and a volunteer at Thomas Hospital.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jessica L. Bethea.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry W. Bethea Sr. of Fairhope; two sons, John W. (Victoria) Bethea of Fairhope and Jerry W. (Vonne) Bethea, Jr. of Fairhope; daughter, Sheila B. (Don) Ward of Point Clear; six grandchildren, GiGi W. (Houston) Lott, Katie C. Wesley, Jennifer L. Bethea, William R. Bethea, Jana B. (Trey) Fellers, and Julie B. (Kyle) Morris; six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to offer special thanks to Dr. Russell Eubanks and Pat McNeal.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 at First Baptist Church of Fairhope. Burial will follow at Montrose Cemetery.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church of Fairhope, or to Thomas Hospital.
