LOXLEY, Ala. — Orlando Bethel, a candidate for sheriff in the June 1 primary, was arrested at the Strawberry Festival earlier this month.
“He was standing in front of another candidate,” said Lt. Raymond Lovell., who added that Bethel was also in front of another vendor who had paid for the spot.
“He would not leave,” said Lovell, “so he was arrested.”
Bethel was charged with harassment, Lovell said. Harassment is a Class C misdemeanor in Alabama and can be punished by up to three months in a county or municipal jail.
