Relive the sights, sounds and smells of that first Christmas as Bethel Baptist Church in Robertsdale presents a ‘Walk Through Bethlehem” on Friday, December 17-Sunday, December 19 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

Church members dress in costume and recreate the town of Bethlehem as it was on the eve of Jesus’ birth and play different characters such as shopkeepers, bakers. innkeepers, stable hands and carpenters.

According to the church website, this event is “an interactive drama where our guests become part of the Christmas story” and are led through the “city” by shepherds (tour hosts) who have conversations with the residents.

Located at 22250 U.S. Highway 90, doors to the worship center open at 5:30 p.m. for early arrivals and anyone still inside at 8 p.m. will be able to still take the tour, the website said.

There is no admission cost and because it is an outside experience lasting 30 minutes, guests are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather. While the groups of 20 are walking through the town, those waiting can relax in the worship center. After the walk is over, guests are invited to the Christian Life Center for refreshments, the website said.

Traffic may be slow and heavy at times and there will be attendants to help with parking. Guests may drop off their groups at the front of the worship center and they can register while a parking place is found.

There is also accommodations for special needs guests and every effort will be made to keep your group together unless they are unusually large, said the website.
