"font-family:">Betty Jo Ray, who was born Sept. 19, 1934 in Jemison, Ala. and lived in Robertsdale since childhood, died Jan. 2, 2012 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was 77.
"font-family:">Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Minnie Ray; and beloved cat of 16 years, Tipper Ray.
"font-family:">She is survived by her aunt, Mertis Childress of Robertsdale; her cousin and caregiver, Evelyn (Walter) Lowery of Robertsdale; and cousin Morris (Francis) Ray of Carrollton, Ga.; plus many other cousins and friends.
"font-family:">Special thanks to Lisa and Bobby Terrell for letting their children, Laura and Luke, visit Betty during her illness. They brought great joy to Betty.
"font-family:">Special thanks to Lori and Scott Miller for visiting Betty, and bringing their pet dog, Aubie, to visit Betty and other patients.
"font-family:">Special thanks to neighbors Kathleen and Arthur Parker and Emily Cohron, who were so faithful to lend a helping hand to Betty.

"font-family:">Betty was a longtime member of Robertsdale First Baptist Church where she was in the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Robertsdale Senior Citizen’s Club.
"font-family:">She enjoyed knitting, reading and going out to eat. She was retired from Monsanto where she worked for many years.
"font-family:">Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at 10 a.m., at Mack Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Baldwin Memorial Cemetery, Robertsdale. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 9-10 a.m., at Mack Funeral Home.
"font-family:">Special thanks to Dr. Steele and the nurses and staff of Robertsdale Healthcare and the staff of Covenant Hospice for their care of Betty during her illness.
