"3">Mrs. Betty Joan Byrd Hudson, 79, of Elberta, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at Providence Hospital in Mobile.
"3">She was born on Aug. 5, 1932 in Lucedale, Miss. Mrs. Hudson was a retired Civil Service employee.
"3">She is survived by her husband, Burnell Hudson; son, Robert (Kathy) Hudson, McLain, Miss.; two daughters, Sharon (Robert) Grant, Elberta and Charlotte (Bobby) Somerville, Pensacola, Fla.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Elise (Archie) Dixon, Lucedale.
"3">She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlie and Carrie Dickerson Byrd.
"3">Funeral services will be held in Lucedale on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., in the chapel of the George County Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bobby Joe Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in the Refuge United Methodist Church Cemetery.
"3">Jeromy Somerville, Jesse Somerville, Jason Pelot, Neal Harmon, Bobby Somerville and Robert Grant will serve as pallbearers. Tyler Bates is an honorary pallbearer.
"3">George County Funeral Home of Lucedale, Miss. in charge of arrangements.
