Colonel B.F. (Biff) Johnson III USA (Retired) made his final flight home on February 5th, 2021 after a long illness. Biff was the beloved husband of Rosalie K. Johnson for 62 years. Father of Benjamin F. Johnson IV (Sherry Petty), John A. Johnson, and Dawn Marie Johnson. Grandfather of Benjamin F. Johnson V (Samantha Towns), Jared Johnson, Mary Joy Pittman (Derek Pittman), Sean Johnson, Grant Johnson, Sarah Johnson, and Lauren Johnson. Great Grandfather of Benjamin F. Johnson VI, Annabelle Johnson, and James Allen Pittman. Biff was born in Donaldsonville, LA on Jan 24th, 1938. He was preceded in death by his mother Margaret Hanson Johnson and his father B. Frank Johnson Jr. Colonel Johnson had a long and distinguished military career, serving over 28 years in US Army Aviation. He flew single and multiengine aircraft and helicopters. He served two tours of duty in the Republic of South Vietnam. Over the course of his military service, he and his family lived on several military posts and were stationed in Germany and Turkey. Retiring on a Friday afternoon after 26 years in the Army, Biff started working the following Monday on a 10 year civilian career. When he finally fully retired in 1997, the Johnsons built their "forever" home in Gulf Shores, AL which was their 31st and final relocation move. Biff loved aviation and enjoyed flying his personal airplanes. He was a member of the local EAA chapter and Ancient Aviators. He was an avid golfer, and achieved a "hole in one" success. He was a faithful member of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church. Biff's other hobbies included playing bridge, poker, hunting, and traveling with his family and friends. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time.
