BAY MINETTE, Ala. — The Baldwin County Department of Archives and History is continuing its preparations for the first annual Old Time Country Festival at Bicentennial Park on April 30.

The event is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to p.m.

Park director Nick Warren said the event will showcase Baldwin County farming with full exhibits of tractors as well as a number of demonstrations of mules and horses and their roles in early farming and logging techniques.

Inclusive to the event is a revival of the Stockton Horseshoe Tournament, as well as historical children’s games that include sack races, clay marbles, bean bag tosses, demonstrations of wool carding and butter churning and much more.

Food and craft vendors will be on site with live music throughout the day. A pie and cake contest also is planned.

“The festival will recreate the atmosphere of bygone county fairs and festivals that were so much a part of the late 19th and early 20th century” Warren said.

Those interested in participating in the contests or vending are encouraged to contact the Baldwin County Department of Archives and History at (251) 580-1897.
