BAY MINETTE, Ala. — Bicentennial Park will host a “Walk in the Park” on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to generate funds for a monument honoring the sacrifices of military personnel in the War on Terror.
The walk is sponsored by the Friends of Bicentennial Park with a charge of $10 per participant. The monument is scheduled for unveiling Sept. 11 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9-11.
“Visitors can anticipate a walk along the 2-mile nature trail with several added attractions,” according to park director Nick Warren. “The Friends of the Park will have Fred Nation on site to discuss native delta flora. This is a great time of the year to walk the trail and enjoy the multitude of plant and animal species, and it’s a great cause to help in a remembrance to the sacrifice of our soldiers in this latest conflict.”
The park is on State Road 225 just south of Stockton. For more information, call (251) 580-1826.
