Big Fish chef wins Shrimp Festival challenge

The winning chefs were announced Friday, Oct. 8 during the 39th Annual National Shrimp Festival presented by Zatarain’s on the Re/Max of Orange Beach East Stage.

 Top Chef honors were awarded to Chef Leck Labron Lilayuva with Big Fish Bar & Grille for his Holy Shrimp recipe. He received a $2,000 cash prize, a complete set of Royal Prestige Cookware (valued at $2,000), the Annual National Shrimp Festival trophy to keep for one year and a Chef’s Challenge first place plaque.

Second place

Second place was awarded to Chef Brody Olive with Villaggio Grille for his Honey Glazed Alabama Shrimp recipe. He received $500 cash prize and a Chef’s Challenge second place plaque.

Third place

Third place was awarded to Chef Ben Kosztur with Rum Runners for his Granny Kissed Shrimp and Grits recipe. He received $250 cash prize and a Chef’s Challenge  third place plaque.

The Annual National Shrimp Festival Chef’s Challenge is presented by Zatarain’s, produced by the Alabama Gulf Coast Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsored in part by the Gulf Coast Culinary Institute, Sunny 105.7 FM, Coast 360, Organized Seafood Association of Alabama, Royal Prestige Cookware, Farmers Market Authority, Viking Ranges, Great Kitchens and the City of Orange Beach.
