FOLEY, Alabama – Nine student athletes signed letters of intent to participate in college athletics at Foley High School on Wednesday as part of National Signing Day for prospective college athletes.
Defensive tackle Darius Paige signed with the University of Alabama, receiver Alontai Adams and defensive tackle Nate Cole signed with Miles College, linebacker Chantz Blackmon and safety Corey Christensen signed with Huntingdon, offensive tackle RJ Hulse signed with Delta State, defensive back BT Sanders signed with Nicholls State, quarterback Maison Taylor signed with Jacksonville State and cross country and track and field athlete Josh Nelson signed with Troy University.
“We are extremely proud of these young men and all they have been able to accomplish,” Foley head coach Todd Watson said during the signing ceremony. “The academic requirements to get into college now are steadily going up, and for our ninth graders they are going to be even higher than what these guys have to achieve. Nothing can take away from your education.”
Watson told this group of signees the same thing he tells every Foley High School athletic signing class.
“You have to make one promise when you sign, and that is that you will come back with a degree in hand,” Watson told the signees. “We want you to come back with a degree and to make us proud. I’m sure you will.”
