FAIRHOPE, Ala. — “Big Read” Alabama program, featuring “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” culminates with a program at the Fairhope Public Library next Saturday.

Dean Mosher, portraying Samuel Clemens, A.K.A. Mark Twain, will discuss the book, primarily the last chapter.

Tom Morley will play the music of the Tom Sawyer era, discuss its origins, and royally “infotain” the audience with melodies from the 1800s, including fiddle tunes and minstrel songs, as well as some songs we sing today.

Jay Qualey will close the program with a semi-serious, serio-comic, pseudo-sophistical, study of the extraordinary extrapolations any half-wit might delight in discovering or devising in the machinations of the rather celebrated Mr. Clemens and his miscreant Tom Sawyer as regards, most pertinently, cats and dogs. Refreshments will be served.
