"font-family:">Bill Whelpley, 81, a native of Millwood, Ga. and resident of Foley, passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012.
"font-family:">Bill was a U.S. Air Force veteran and member of First Baptist Church of Foley.
"font-family:">Bill never met a stranger. He overcame many obstacles throughout his life to build many successful businesses, travel the world and share his love for life and others.
"font-family:">Mr. Whelpley was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Lincoln.
"font-family:">He is survived by his wife, Mabel Benton Whelpley; four daughters, Pamela Matthews of Aurora, Colo., Alisha Jennings of Fort Myers, Fla., Nadine Mancuso of Boston, Mass. and Stephanie Robson of Washington, D.C.; four sons, Raymond Lincoln of Ft. Worth, Texas, Bill Whelpley of Dallas, Texas, Scott Whelpley of Mukilteo, Wash. and Michael Whelpley of California; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, four stepchildren and numerous loving step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
"font-family:">Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
"font-family:">In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Foley Building Fund, or the First Baptist Church of Foley Family Crisis Center.
