Billy Wayne Wright, 75, a native of Summerdale and a resident of Hendersonville, N.C. for many years, was born on June 19, 1938 to the late Eva Driskell Wright and J.W. (Shorty) Wright, and departed this life on June 28, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 48 years, Gloria Martinez Wright.
He graduated from Foley High School, and attended Troy State University, where he earned a BS degree.
He served 22 years in the U.S. Army, with two tours in Vietnam before retiring to begin his second career with the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk in the Tryon, S.C. office, where he retired in 1998.
Before his death, he resided at the Emeritus at Pine Park, an assisted living facility in Hendersonville, N.C.
He is survived by one son, Marc Wright of Laguna Beach, Calif.; two daughters, Leeanne Wright (Randy) Gowens of Snellville, Ga. and Julie Wright Smith of Brevard, N.C.; four sisters, Barbara Wright Pellegrino and Sandra Wright Black of Mobile, Diane Wright Dombroski of Summerdale and Lynn Wright Morton of Chillicothe, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Wright will be held from the chapel of Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at Black Mountain on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the services.
