Bimini Bob's offers island experience at The Wharf

ORANGE BEACH, Ala. - Bimini Bob’s Cabana Café is an island-style restaurant inspired by the island of Bimini just off the coast of Florida, a favorite fishing spot of Ernest Hemingway.

Bimini Bob’s features an extensive drink menu that includes pina coladas, hurricanes, daiquiris, mojitos, and its specialty, The Bushwacker.

Happy hour is daily from 2-6:30 p.m. with drink specials on draft and can beer, frozen drinks, cocktails and wine.

Bimini Bob’s offers a unique menu that features local Alabama seafood such as steamed Royal Red shrimp, oysters and clams, piled-high shrimp, oyster and fish po’boys and fresh, local oysters on the half shell.

By using only locally sourced pecan wood and one of the finest smokers on the Gulf Coast, Bimini Bob’s smokes up fresh caught mullet, mojo smoked pork butts and what they promise will be one of the best burgers anyone will ever have.

The Key West-style, dockside restaurant was designed so boats could have easy access. Located by the dock, the casual dining experience encourages bathing suits, flip-flops and T-shirts.

There is a spacious waterfront patio with love swings and front row seating to watch dolphins or view the beautiful Gulf Coast sunsets.

“This is a perfect island retreat,” owner Bob Baumhower said. “It reminds me of my days traveling the waters of Bimini and eating great food while enjoying a carefree lifestyle.”

All of Baumhower’s restaurants are participating in a new, multi-concept promotion called Sunset Festival. Every Wednesday beginning at 2 p.m., Compleat Angler will have live music from 6-10:00 p.m. and all three restaurants will offer drink specials and 25-cent oysters.

During Sunset Festival, a variety of activities will take place on the boardwalk at The Wharf like face painting, crab races for the kids and ring toss. It’s a great time to hang out, sit around the boat bar and watch the sunset until 8:30 p.m. when the first SPECTRA show begins. Afterwards, return to the Compleat Angler where specials continue until the second SPECTRA show at 10 p.m.
