Seating is still available for the popular Blakeley State Park boat tour of the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta and the State Docks and Port of Mobile area Saturday (June 22). The tour leaves from the Blakeley Park dock on the Tensaw River at 9:30 a.m. and returns at 12:30 p.m.
The Park’s Delta Explorer is a 50-passenger covered pontoon boat ecotour with seating and restroom facilities. The narrated tour through the Delta and down through the Mobile port features diverse plant and animal wildlife in remote areas accessible only by boat, along with the maritime activities in one of the region’s most active international ports.
Tickets are $35 for adults and $17 for children 6-12. Children under 6 are free but the long tour is not recommended for kids under four. Tickets can be purchased at the park on the day of the tour or reserved in advance by calling 251-626-5581 and paying with credit cards. The tour boat is also available for private charters for two-hour Delta tours, the three-hour Docks and Port tour, and for tours with lunch on the Causeway.
Blakeley Park is located on State Highway 225 about 4.5 miles north of its intersection with U.S. 31 at Spanish Fort. For more information go to www.blakeleypark.com or E-mail Blakeleypark@aol.com.
