SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Warming waters of the Tensaw-Mobile Delta are expected to increase sightings of alligators, unusual birds and plants by passengers aboard the Blakeley State Park’s eco-tour boat—the Delta Explorer—that makes its next walk-on excursion Saturday, June 13.
With summer weather, tours now run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. to avoid afternoon heat and thunderstorms. The Delta Explorer is a covered boat with restroom facilities.
Tickets are on a first-come, first-serve basis and seating is limited to 49 adults but passengers may make paid reservations using major credit cards. Rain checks, but no refunds, will be issued if weather causes postponement of any of the park’s walk-on boat tours.
Tickets are $22 for adults, $12 for children 6-12 and free to children 4-6. Charters are available at any time for groups with a minimum number of passengers. June walk-on boat tours are June 13 and June 27. Charters may be booked for any dates and times that are open. For walk-on tickets call 626-5581; for charters call 626-0798.
Blakeley is a 2,000-acre state historic and nature park located on the Tensaw River just off Alabama Highway 225 about 4.5 miles north of Spanish Fort.
