MAGNOLIA SPRINGS — Bob Holk announces his candidacy for re-election to the Magnolia Springs Town Council, running for Seat 3.

Holk has served on the Council since the incorporation of Magnolia Springs in 2006. He currently serves as chairman of the town’s Public Safety Committee and vice chairman of the Planning Committee.

“Magnolia Springs was incorporated in order to protect the quality of life our unique community offers” Holk said. “One of the challenges facing our small town is preserving our past while managing future growth.”

Holk currently serves as president of the Magnolia Springs Volunteer Fire Department. His tenure with the Fire Department spans over 35 years as a firefighter and officer.

He said, “because of our Fire Department’s dedicated people and excellent equipment, we are considered one of the best in Baldwin County.”

Holk was instrumental in securing the site and leading the construction of the new fire station in Magnolia Springs.

Holk’s goals in his next term on the Town Council are to continue projects currently in progress that will improve drainage and roads, continue the work of providing better community access to the river and enhance the water quality of the Magnolia River. In 2009 the Magnolia River was recognized as an “Alabama Outstanding Water.”

In addition, Holk would like to see the old Magnolia Springs School grounds become a community park, providing recreational areas for citizens.

Holk is a graduate of Foley High School and Auburn University. where he earned a B.S. degree in construction science. He is a small-business owner working in Baldwin County.
