FOLEY, Ala. — The Memorial Day weekend didn’t pass without a fatality in the Forward City.

At 1 p.m. Monday, authorities were called to a field near an access road behind Arby’s and KFC restaurants in Foley when a person was reported to be lying there.

“Two juvenile witnesses saw him in the field,” Foley Police Lt. David White said in a phone interview.

Upon arrival, response teams from the Foley Police and Fire Departments found the body of 26-year-old Jered Paul Zukunft, a white male residing in Foley. The coroner was called and, the cause of death is currently under investigation.

“We do not suspect foul play,” White said.
