BAY MINETTE, Ala. — When the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce holds its quarterly breakfast in Bay Minette this week, it will do so with U.S. Congressman Jo Bonner serving as its keynote speaker.

NBCC Executive Director Margo Allen explained that the event, which is set for 8 a.m. Thursday in the Bay Minette City Council Chambers in City Hall, will prove informative for north Baldwin County residents.

“They can expect an insightful discussion from their Congressional representative on current pending legislation that affects businesses in this community,” she said in a telephone interview. “He will address issues pertaining to business and discuss the state of affairs.”

Bonner last spoke at the Chamber’s quarterly breakfast in August 2010. At that time, he addressed such topics as the state of the national economy, the Gulf Coast oil spill, alternative energy sources and government spending.

A Mobile resident, Bonner has served five terms in the U.S. House of Representatives as Alabama’s District 1 representative. According to information provided by his website, Bonner serves on the House of Appropriations and House Ethics committees and the Republican Whip Team.

“And he was named chairman of the full committee for the 112^th Congress, effective Jan. 5, 2011,” the site biography states.

Bonner and his wife, Janee, have two children, 15-year-old daughter Lee, and 12-year-old son Robins.

Allen pointed out that attending Thursday’s breakfast offers additional benefits for community members.

“It provides the opportunity to network with local elected officials and small-business owners,” she said.
