Luella Bartel Boothe, 91, a long time school employee and active community volunteer, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008 at her home in Fairhope, surrounded by close family and friends.
Although a native of Bakersfield, Calif., she lived a full and accomplished life on her farm in Fairhope for 62 years.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Sherrill, her husband, Charley Boothe, beloved great-granddaughter, Caroline Jaffari, other beloved family members and friends.
Survivors include a sister, Louise Southworth; devoted children Larry (Joyce) Corwin, Diane Jaffari, Gene (Carolyn) Boothe and Nancy Boothe; 10 wonderful grandchildren, Michael Corwin, Dari Starkey, Gabrielle Wilkerson, Diane Hayes, Mark Jaffari, Barbara Jaffari, David Jaffari, Eric Boothe, Amie Boothe and Timothy Boothe; 12 beautiful great-grandchildren, Catherine Corwin, Philip Wilkerson, Alex Wilkerson, Rachel Wilkerson, Lauren Starkey, Matthew Starkey, Jaleh Jaffari, Nicolas Berry, Elizabeth Berry, Jenna Jaffari, Collin Boothe, and Sidney Boothe.
A private cremation ceremony will be followed by a special outdoor memorial service for friends and family at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 on her farm, 8500 Charley Boothe Road, U.S. Highway 98, a half mile north of County Road 32. Her church community will provide a light meal following the service in remembrance of the many shared meals and celebrations during her lifetime.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Unity on the Eastern Shore for a special reading room in her honor. Tax deductible donations in her memory should be mailed to Unity on the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 1701, Daphne, AL 36526.
