The first baby born in Baldwin County in 2009 was Rivers Lennon Rodgers, son of Derrick and Heather Rodgers of Mobile. Rivers was delivered by Dr. Mary Wells at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope on Thursday at 12:22 p.m. At birth, he weighed 8 pounds and 14 ounces, and was 21 1/2 inches long. His grandparents are Joan and Bob Hines of Huntsville, Ala.; Clay and Laura Rodgers of Mobile; and Chris and Denny Metzger of Fairhope. Thomas Birth Center Director Vicki Curtis presented to Rivers’ parents a gift basket on Friday, which was courtesy of Thomas Hospital, Tiny Town, The Pink Crocodile, Buckle My Shoe, Baby Needs New Shoes and Portraits by Vicki.
