Bounds YMCA closed through April 19 for remodeling

DAPHNE, Ala.—The Bounds Family YMCA in Daphne will close through April 19 to finish a remodeling project designed to accommodate YMCA members as well as new members formerly with Omni Health & Fitness.

“The closing will allow the YMCA to complete renovations and move exercise equipment from the former Omni Health & Fitness in Daphne to the YMCA’s Daphne facility,” said Mark Hanke, CEO of YMCA of South Alabama.

“The YMCA Kids Zone facility, adjacent to the Bounds Family YMCA, will remain open for a children’s spring-break camp, however,” added Hanke. 

During this time, YMCA members and Omni members are encouraged to use the YMCA’s four other branches in Mobile and Baldwin counties.

A freshly renovated Bounds Family YMCA will welcome YMCA and former Omni members back on April 20.

The Bounds Family YMCA makeover began months ago, even before the YMCA of South Alabama signed an agreement in March to purchase Omni Health & Fitness. The purchase paved the way for the Bounds Family YMCA to grow into the largest fitness facility in Baldwin County.

When Omni entered into arrangement with Publix Supermarket, the YMCA stepped up by investing in an equipment purchase and the agreement to offer services and assume Omni memberships.
