Boys & Girls recognizes Bolton

DAPHNE, Ala.—The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama Inc. held its Annual Awards & Board Installation Luncheon on Thursday, Oct. 2 at the International Trade Club’s Main Dining Room.

Mary S. Zoghby, executive director of Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama Inc., welcomed more than 100 guests as officers and directors were installed and individuals were recognized.

Awards presented at the luncheon include:

BGCA Man & Youth Award:Mobile County Commissioner Mike Dean

BGCA Woman & Youth Award: Pam Dean, ComPac Foods Regional Manager

New Board Member of the Year: Michon Trent

Board Member of the Year: Jerry Thompson

Media Award: Barry Silverman, Soundworks

Volunteer Service Award: Ruth Yelding Bolton, Ruff Wilson Club, Daphne

Owen B. Gaston Part-Time Employee Award: Gerald Richardson, Kiwanis Club

Helping Hand Award: Billy Bolton

BGCA National Medallion: Mark Hughes, past chairman

The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama celebrated more than 50 years of serving this area. There are 10 sites in Mobile and Baldwin counties, open five days a week. They are safe places where members ages 6 through 18 are nurtured and helped to realize their full potential through programs in five core areas, a spokesperson said.
