DAPHNE, Ala. — The Bay Rivers Art Guild (BRAG) is hard at work with plans for their 2009 Summer Art Camp which caters to ages 4 to 13.
Since the camp’s inception in 2006, camp numbers have continued to grow. BRAG had 100 families participate in the 2008 camp.
They had 152 campers enrolled in 230 class spots. BRAG anticipates enrollment to rise even higher with the inclusion of dramatic art lessons by director Martha Lynch.
Lynch has directed more than 150 musicals and plays across Northern Virginia for schools and community theaters.
BRAG is very fortunate to have Lynch on board this summer to teach theater classes at the Nicholson Center in Daphne. Lynch’s classes will include “TAKE ONE!” for ages 5-7, designed for children who have no experience in showbiz.
Classes will focus on helping children with self confidence and thinking outside the box. Children will engage in theater games, improvisation exercises, fun theater warm-up, and will end the last class with a small performance.
She'll also hold classes for ages 8 and older called “LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!” that will help stretch imagination with exploration of theater expression. Students will develop confidence through acting, theater games, improvisation exercises, fun theater warm-up, and will end the last class with a small performance.
Along with Lynch’s drama classes, BRAG will continue to offer many exciting hands-on art classes in their Sixth Street location.
For a complete description of classes being offered this summer, log on www.bragart.org.
Camp dates will run June 15-19, June 22-26, July 6-10, July 13-17 and July 20-24.
