DAPHNE, Ala. — Summer is at its half-way point. By now you have heard the dreaded phrase “I'm bored.” Older children seem to get bored easier than their younger counterparts, and as a result become fixed to the mindless square box in the living room courtesy of  TV, movies, or video games.

Bring back your sanity and your child’s intelligence all in one place. Bay Rivers Art Guild of Daphne summer camp offers classes designed for the adventurous artist ages 10 and up.

Instructor Tarin  Majure,  a gifted instructor with a degree in art therapy, who teaches at Daphne Elementary and J. Carroll Intermediate,  teaches three classes at BRAG to challenge the “tween” generation.

•July 7-11, “Picture Me”

It’s a class where students will define their self image in various forms and mediums using techniques from Van Gough to Warhol. Exploring themselves from serious to silly, artists will use pastel, oil, collage and pop art to define their personality in portrait.

•July 14-18, “Brainstorming”

This is a class of tactile proportions. Students will create to the limits of their imagination in forms of paper, wire, fabric, and various other recyclables.

Each day will hold a new material to create with and finished work joined together on day five. It’s an excellent class for your future architect, graphic artist or engineer.

•July 21-25, “Reframe It”

Bring any prior art work; painting, drawing, or photograph, and reframe it in a new and different way. Come create a fun and interesting way to surround your masterpiece.

Through uses of textures and objects, put your work in its best light. It’s a great way to make a gift of your own talent for someone you love.

All classes will be from 1-3 p.m., and an optional lunch bunch is offered from 12-1. All supplies are includes.

Contact BRAG at (251) 621-0659 for registration. Class size is limited for personal instruction.

BRAG is located at 1704 Sixth St. in Daphne.
