GULF SHORES, Ala. — Greenville High School head football coach Ben Blackmon has been offered and accepted the head coaching position at Gulf Shores High School, according to a source close to the school's hiring search.

The source said that Blackmon's hiring still has to be approved at the next Baldwin County Board of Education meeting, scheduled for later this month.

Blackmon would replace Mark Freeman, who left Gulf Shores to fill the vacant coaching job at Spanish Fort last month. Blackmon compiled a 31-14 record at Greenville in four seasons, including an 11-1 record in 2009. In 2009, his Greenville team won the Class 5A Region 3 championship and set a school record for points scored with 459.
