All Orange Beach fire personnel on duty are fighting a wild fire in Gulf State Park and off-duty firefighters have been called in to cover calls within the city, according to Battalion Chief Jeff Smith.

"All the on-duty guys are there," King said. "They are trying to contain it right now and I don't know any more than tha\t. We're covering the city with off-duty personnel right now."

Several other area fire departments responded to help battle the blaze led by Gulf Shores, the primary department in the reponse to the fire. Among others sending units were Bon Secour, Magnolia Springs and Perdido Key.

According to sources, firefighters were cutting a fire break on the northern end of the fire, but it was moving rapidly east.
