DAPHNE, Ala. — Premier of British Columbia Gordon Campbell visited Bayside Academy Aug. 26 to speak to the Upper School students about the challenges they will be confronted with as adults.

Encouraging the students to take advantage of their gifts and to make a commitment to their dreams to achieve them, Campbell advised students that the more they learn the more perspective they will have to deal with the changes they will face in the future.

“Education is the keystone of everything we want to do in the future,” he said.

Citing examples such as the economy, healthcare and the environment, “the changes ahead are bigger than what most of us want to confront,” Campbell said.

“Don’t ever forget that your country asks you what you want to do to shape your world,” he added, advising the students that the time is now for them to start thinking about the kind of world they want to live in.

“At the end of the day, you are really lucky to live in a country like the United States. It is looked to as an example by people all over the world and that example is set by its citizens,” Campbell said.

Gordon Campbell is British Columbia’s 34th premier.
