DAPHNE, Ala. — A sports figure will appear at Daphne United Methodist Church’s next Brothers on the Bay meeting, scheduled for Jan. 22.

Phil Savage, the Cleveland Browns’ senior vice president and general manager, will be this month’s speaker.

A 17-year veteran of the NFL, Savage is known as one of the league’s top talent evaluators. Savage implements the organizational strategy for football operations and is responsible for all pro and college personnel acquisitions. Savage works directly with Cleveland Browns Head Coach Romeo Crennel in determining goals and needs for the team and arranging financial guidelines and parameters for contract negotiations and budgets.

Savage attended Murphy High School in Mobile before playing football and baseball at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. He earned a bachelor’s in English and was a three-time All-Conference shortstop in baseball. He received a master’s in physical education from the University of Alabama in 1989.

Brothers On the Bay… Pulled Pork Feast will be served for $5. You can pay at the door, but make reservations so that appropriate arrangements can be made for food and seating.

The food line will open at 11:45 a.m. and the speaker will be introduced at 12:15 p.m. You could be back at work at 1 p.m.

This event is for all and the attire is causal.

RSVP to neil@dumc.org, or call the Daphne UMC Community Life Center office 626-2287.
