Charles Haywood Brown, 57, a native of Fairhope and a resident of White House Fork, died Friday, August 21, 2009 after a brief illness.

He was a member of Bromley Baptist Church and a 1971 graduate of Baldwin County High School where he was inducted into the BCHS Football Hall of Fame in October 2008. He retired with 30 years of dedicated service from the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park and was known as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin L. and Irma Broughton Brown and by a brother, Richard Brown.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Tammy Lynn Brown of White House Fork; a son, Michael A. Skirvin of White House Fork; two daughters, Andrea E. Brown and Angela Louise Brown, both of White House Fork; two grandsons, Anthony Skirvin and Mayson Skirvin, both of White House Fork; a brother, Raymond (Shirley) Brown of White House Fork, many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24 at Bromley Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25 at the church. Interment will follow at Johnson Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park or to Bromley Baptist Church.
