Myrtle Victoria Cooper Brown, 94, of Foley, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at home after a lengthy illness.
She was a long-time resident of Gulf Shores and Foley, where she retired after a career as a housemother at the Chi Omega dormitory at Auburn University.
She was born in 1913 in the New Orleans area to Lucille Foret Cooper and Gardner Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murphy Brown, and her only child, Delores Young, also of Foley; two brothers, Belton and Ronnie Cooper, both of Louisiana.
Survivors include one granddaughter, Cynthia (Alan Carmichael) Moxley of Knoxville, TEnn.; one grandson, James (Therese) Moxley Jr. of Foley; two great-grandsons, James Moxley III and Joseph Moxley of Foley; step-great-granddaughter, Tabatha Carter of Silverhill; two brothers, J.W. (Mildred) Cooper of Monroe, La., and Alton T. (Hilda) Cooper of West Monroe, La.; sister, Agnes Elizabeth Danna of West Monroe, La.; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 13 at Pine Rest Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, March 14 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Foley. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
