FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Best-selling author Rita Mae Brown recently dropped by the Fairhope Public Library for a fund-raiser and pet adoption to benefit the Haven no-kill animal shelter and the library. The event was presented by Page & Palette.

Brown shared anecdotes about her life and career, discussed her love of animals and stressed the importance of watching out for their welfare.

Brown was a television and motion picture writer before an industry strike propelled her into a full-time career as a novelist.

Her latest book, The Purrfect Murder, was recently released.
