Bruno Walter Strack, age 91, born in Pinkaute, Sudetenland, Czech Republic to Franze and Marie Mauler Strack, and a resident of Bay Minette, Ala., died Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at North Baldwin Infirmary.
He was a veteran of World War II.
After World War II, he completed his studies at the College in Sudetenland where he obtained a degree in mechanical engineering. Later he immigrated to Canada where he was employed as a mechanical engineer on the development of the Alaskan Highway.
In the 1960s, he immigrated to the United States and became an American citizen. He continued to work in his field with various companies, and in 1972 he obtained his master’s degree in education at Auburn University.
He taught at the university level from 1972 to 1991 until he retired from the University of Memphis as a professor of engineering.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Gainer Strack of Bay Minette, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Franz Strack; and his sister, Mitiz Naugebauer.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, with Dr. Chip Starnes and Rev. Bill Carr officiating.
Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. funeral at the First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Benevolent Fund, P.O. Box 1628, Bay Minette, AL 36507, or to the charity of your choice.
