Jean Ortet Bryan, 88, born Oct. 23, 1920 in Jacksonville, Fla., died Monday, Jan. 19, 2009 in Foley.
She was a long time resident of Pensacola, Fla. She worked at Monsanto and retired in 1972. She lived in Gulf Shores from 1974 until 2005 when she moved to Conway, Ark., to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
She was a member of the Oyster Bay Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School to children She read her Bible through 28 times and was currently reading it the 29th time. She was loved by her family and church family and will be missed.
The last 3 1/2 years she was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Conway, Ark. She has always been affectionately known as Granny Jean.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Bryan.
Survivors include a son, Russell Brazwell Jr.; three daughters, Eleanor Foster of Pensacola, Fla., Janice (Benjamin) Rediker of Robertsdale and Judy (Sherman) Paul of Conway, Ark.; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jacqueline (George) Alexander of Winnsboro, S.C., Catherine Matthews of Pensacola, Fla., and Adraine Fulford of Pensacola, Fla.
Visitation will be held from 6 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22 at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Oyster Bay Baptist Church Building Fund, 4280 Plash Road, Gulf Shores, AL 36542.
