FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Frank T. Bunch, MD, an interventional and peripheral cardiologist with Cardiology Associates here, recently served on the faculty of the New Cardiovascular Horizons conference in New Orleans.

The conference is one of the largest international multidisciplinary conferences, with over 3,500 participants — cardiologists, interventional radiologists, surgeons, internists, family practice physicians, podiatrists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and cath lab personnel — all coming together to learn the best treatment modalities for cardiovascular disease.

Craig M. Walker, MD, founder and medical director of Cardiovascular Institute of the South and co-chairman of the conference, said, “We’re trying to train the primary care physicians, the interventionist, the radiologist, the podiatrist, everyone who treats this sort of disease.”

David E. Allie, MD, chief of Cardiothoracic and Endovascular Surgery, Cardiovascular Institute of the South/Lafayette, and NCVH Conference co-chairman, agrees, saying “Cardiovascular disease really affects us from head to toe. The meeting is the right meeting, at the right time and really for the right purpose. Well, we’re very proud to have the masters and legends of cardiovascular disease, and not only cardiovascular disease: also podiatry, nursing, wound care, endocrinology- really top of the line faculty throughout the world. It’s a top-of-the-line educational and social event.”

Cardiology Associates is a 26-physician group providing coordinated and integrated comprehensive heart services including pediatric cardiology, adult clinical, invasive and interventional cardiology, preventive cardiology, electrophysiology and the treatment of heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, cholesterol and lipid disorders.
