FOLEY, Ala. — A 16-year-old and 18-year-old were arrested shortly after midnight on Saturday for allegedly breaking into businesses on East Laurel Avenue.
Lt. David White, lead investigator for Foley Police Department, said Joshua Imel, the 18 -year-old, and a juvenile male were arrested following a call about two people standing on the back porch of a business that was closed.
White said the call to FPD came from a subject who lives in the area where the break-ins occurred.
The buildings broken into were Farmers Insurance at 418 E. Laurel Ave. and the building that once housed the Travel Merchant at 416 E. Laurel Ave. The door at the 416 location had been kicked in, White said.
When officers arrived at the scene, the juvenile suspect ran but was caught almost immediately by police, White said. Officers chased Imel and caught him on the east side of the Baldwin Mutual Insurance building.
The suspects were charged with two counts each of third-degree burglary, according to White.
“They are also suspects in a couple of other burglaries in the same area. We are working to close those cases,” White said of Imel and the juvenile.
