DAPHNE, Ala. — Former City Council President Greg Burnam announced during Monday’s regular meeting he is resigning his District 4 seat effective in July.
“I’ve been doing this for a long time, but I’m self-employed here in Daphne, and I really need to give my full attention to my business,” Burnam said, adding, “Nothing happened. It wasn’t something that didn’t go my way; I just need to focus on my business.”
Burnam has served on the council for 14 years, including a four-year stint at president from 2004 through 2008. His current term expires in 2012.
Burnam said he will serve through July 19.
