GULF SHORES, Ala. — Throw on your loudest Hawaiian shirt and slip on your flip-flops. One of Pleasure Island’s most popular entertainers, Brent Burns, is back for the 2010 Gulf Shores Outdoor & In free concert series.
On April 22, Burns will bring his special sound to the Erie Meyer Civic Center backyard, 1930 W. Second St. in Gulf Shores, for this 7 p.m. outdoor musical event.
Bring a chair or mat for seating comfort as you and your family enjoy music guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Named Trop/Rock Entertainer of the Year, Burns has also been designated by the Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau as the official “Pleasure Island Musical Ambassador.”
Burns wrote “Snowbird Season,” among many other songs, including the 1970s Top 40 hit “Cheaper Crude or No More Food.”
His impressive CD sales and song writing continue to make him a highly sought after independent artist and performer.
Burns’ performance schedule includes over 200 dates a year at concerts, festivals and clubs, where he often includes one of his favorite tunes, “Champagne in a Paper Cup.”
“Build Them a House” benefits Habitat for Humanity across the nation and in our community. This song can be downloaded at www.brentburns.com. Portions of the proceeds from Burns’ subsequent CDs are also donated to this worthy cause.
His CD “Margarita Smile” includes some great new original songs including, “Parrothead Rendezvous,” “Trailer Park Sexy” and “Hit the Beach.”
Like Burns’ CD, “Livin’ the Life,” part of the proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity.
Burns’ CD “Ragtops and Flip Flops” contains songs sure to strike a chord such as “Pain at the Pump” and “Stuff Like That.”
The most recent volume of Burns’ gems is “I’ve Got a Beach in my Backyard” featuring some of the best tunes to date. From “Kenny Rogers Face” to “Retired,” you’ll laugh until the tears run.
As always, Burns’ tongue is planted firmly in his cheek, and his feet are likewise in the sand. The simple observations of life as he sees it will have listeners nodding their heads, as well as tapping their feet.
Bring your friends, family, and your sense of humor. This free outdoor concert is presented by the city of Gulf Shores Special Events and Programs Division.
In case of rain, the fun will move inside.
