FLORA-BAMA - Local author Chris Warner, a resident of Perdido Key, Florida, has revised the popular book, “Bushwhacked at the Flora-Bama” to include a 32-page addendum chronicling what has happened at the iconic, gulf coast watering hole during its past three years of new ownership.

The addendum contains interviews with the Flora-Bama’s new principal, John McInnis, chief operating officer, Cam Price, long-time owner Pat McClellan, original owners Bubba and Connie Tampary, longtime bartender Phil Harter, entertainers Rhonda Hart and Jack Robertson as well as updating fans on the revered institution’s many facility improvements and new events.

The new book contains the original book, plus the 32-page addendum, and a new, related picture spread.

“The Flora-Bama is so much to so many people.  More than just a bar, the fabled vacation destination and haunt has united revelers from far and wide for more than three generations.  It’s an unstoppable force of good times, great music and great people!” Warner said.

“John McInnis met with me last year and asked me to expand the book to include what has been happening at the Flora-Bama since 2012.  As it turns out—much has happened.  The new addendum will bring die-hard Flora-Bama fans up to date on what has been going on.  Of course, the original book chronicling Joe’s life and times at the Flora-Bama is still there.  But this new version of Bushwhacked will serve the Flora-Bama well moving forward—reminding everyone of the Flora-Bama’s unique past and of course, its promising future,” Warner said.

“The new interviews are an unprecedented oral history, and that is special.  Old and new Flora-Bama fans will enjoy this second version of the already popular book.”

Warner, who is the author of more than 20 titles, including the novel set at the Flora-Bama, “Saved at the Alabama-Florida Line,” anticipates another Flora-Bama-related book by the end of the month: “Food N’ Fun at the Flora-Bama,” a cookbook with food and drink recipes from the owners, musicians, workers and long-time patrons of the Flora-Bama.

“Food N’ Fun is a unique keepsake and gift item Flora-Bama fans will want to cherish.”

The books can be purchased at the Flora-Bama gift shop or online at the Flora-Bama website, Southernbeachreads.com or Amazon.com.
