Charles Ormonde Butler, 81, a native of Alameda County, Calif., and a resident of Daphne, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007.

He was educated at Kings Point, N.Y., and Berkeley, Calif.  He sailed for Moore McCormack for 40 years and last sailed as Captain on the LNG tanker "Louisiana".

He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret “Midge” Butler of Daphne; children, Per of Thailand, Perry and Pia, both of Denmark; and Melanie of Sussex, England; eight grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 at the home of Capt. and Mrs. Charles Butler, 401 Potters Mill Ave., Daphne.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Ecumenical Ministries, 564 Fairhope Ave., Fairhope, AL.

Arrangements are by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Daphne.
