Riley W. Byrd, 62, a native of Silverhill and a resident of Robertsdale, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010.
He served 32 years with the U.S. Coast Guard, retiring as a CWO-4. He also served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Greeno Masonic Lodge Fairhope and was a local business owner.
Survivors include his wife, Laura M. Byrd of Robertsdale; two sons, Jason Byrd (Gidget Johnson and Connor) of Daphne and James Z. (Maria) Byrd of Salt Lake City; step-daughter, Judi (Mike) Shuger of Denver; sister, Judy (Charlie) Wright of Silverhill; brother, Ray Byrd of Silverhill; two grandchildren, Lilli and Dyson Shuger; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 14 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Daphne. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 15 from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, Fla.
