Eugenia Mosley Byrd, a native of Stapleton and resident of Bay Minette, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008 in Bay Minette.

She was born April 24, 1926 in Lufkin, to Robert Riley Mosley and Lottie Charlotte Browning Mosley.

She was preceded in death by her husband Julius Bennett Byrd and grandsons, Owen Lee Byrd and Bradley Eugene Boyington.

Survivors include her children, Julia Ann Freeland of Stapleton, Gloria Jean (Gerald) Melton of Stockton, Owen Harold “Buddy” (JoAnn) Byrd and Geraldine Deer, both of Stapleton, Lois Faye (Kendal) Henderson and Julius Doyle Byrd, both of Loxley, Danny (Julie) Byrd of Robertsdale, Gary Dennis (Mary) Byrd of Loxley and Tammy Teresa Thompson (Larry Davis) of Spanish Fort; sister, Florence Lamb of Pensacola, FL; 28 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. at Stapleton Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Lawhorn and John Anderson officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Stapleton.

Active pallbearers were Paul Hicks, Gregory Goram, Mack Byrd, Adam Byrd, Gary Byrd, Robert Byrd, Eric Friese and Michael Boyington and honorary pallbearer was Nichole Johnson.

Arrangements were made by Norris Funeral Home, Bay Minette.
