DAPHNE, Ala. — The Byrne for Governor Baldwin County Campaign Headquarters officially opens Friday, March 12 at 5:00 PM. Republican Candidate for Governor Bradley Byrne will be on site and will present an update on his campaign.
The public is invited to attend the headquarters opening and to meet Byrne. Refreshments will be served. The campaign headquarters is located at 1410 Hwy 98 in Colonial Plaza, Daphne.
An Alabama native and resident of Baldwin County, Byrne announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for the office of Governor of Alabama on May 27, 2009. Byrne, a conservative and proven reformer, stands for a platform based on ethics reform, education and economic development.
He graduated from the University of Alabama, where he received his law degree and practiced law in Mobile for over 25 years. Following that, Byrne served two terms as a member of the Alabama State Board of Education and five years in the State Senate, serving District 32.
Most recently, Byrne was appointed by the Alabama State Board of Education as Chancellor of the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education to serve as the chief executive officer of Alabama’s two-year college system. This system was plagued with well-publicized problems. An entrenched system of corruption needed great reforms to return to the core mission of educating students and preparing them for the workforce. Byrne’s reform efforts have been successful as the two-year college system has been righted and refocused to its proper goals.
In his role as Chancellor, Byrne also serves as Chairman of the State Workforce Planning Council, overseeing all of Alabama’s workforce development efforts, giving him a keen understanding of the state’s ability to expand the workforce by fostering a business climate that creates good jobs.
He, his wife and four children live in Fairhope.
