FAIRHOPE, Ala. — All artists 18 years and older are invited by the Fairhope Committee On Public Art (COPA) and the Eastern Shore Art Center (ESAC) to participate in an exhibition of fountain art, “Falling Water,” which will feature two- and three-dimensional fountain pieces that encompass the theme and the flow of water.
The juried show, which will feature $2,500 in awards, will be exhibited at ESAC Sept. 4 through Oct. 30. The fee for entering up to three pieces is $25.
The deadline for submitting designs (on CD ROM only) is June 15.
Applicants can download the entry forms and accompanying rules by going to www.fairhopecopa.com or contacting Deborah Newberry, ESAC, 401 Oak Ave., Fairhope, AL 36532, (251) 928-2228, or dsnatnfl@aol.com.
“Not only is water a source of beauty, but it soothes and relaxes and inspires reflection,” said Larry Sims, COPA chairman. “‘Falling Water’ is an opportunity for artists to show works that encompass our fascination with the flow of water.”
The exhibit is timed to coincide with the dedication of Fairhope’s newest artistic fountain, “Mullet Run,” by Ameríca Jones, that was financed by COPA through funds raised from the 2007 Art Takes Flight/Party With The Pelicans auction.
“Mullet Run” is being installed at the Fairhope Museum of History Plaza facing Bancroft Street.
