BAY MINETTE, Ala. - Bob Callahan Jr. of Fairhope said he will seek re-election to the District 6 seat on the Baldwin County Board of Education, a post he has held since 2002.
Callahan has been a resident of Fairhope for 28 years and is president of Callahan and Associates, a technology consulting firm located in Fairhope.
Callahan said he views Baldwin County’s public schools as the cornerstone of the community, and believes quality schools are vitally important to the quality of life. As a long-time resident who has raised a family in Fairhope, and with the experience of six years representing District 6 on the Baldwin County Board of Education, Callahan said he understands the pressures brought on schools by growth and funding.
He said he understands the pressures and opportunities presented to students and teachers by the changing economy, international competition, and No Child Left Behind Act. Callahan said he relies on his record of accomplishment as a community leader and school board member to meet these challenges.
During Callahan’s six years on the Board of Education, he has served as chair of the Technology Committee, chair of the Finance Committee, and two terms as president of the Baldwin County Board of Education.
Callahan and his wife, Maria, have three adult sons and one grandchild. All of their children are graduates of Fairhope High School.
