Calvin L. Hood Jr., 59, passed away July 23, 2014 at his home in Foley.
He was born July 28, 1954 and was a longtime resident of Baldwin County.
He was employed at Elberta Hardware for many years, and also owned his own lawn care and handyman service. He was a hard worker and enjoyed staying busy.
His activities included fishing, gardening and riding motorcycles. He loved being outdoors and observing nature.
Another passion was cooking, but his most rewarding activity was rescuing and providing a loving home for animals in need.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Payton-Hood; two sons, Christopher Hood of Louisiana and Brandon Hood of Florida; two daughters, Shannon Hood of Louisiana and Jordon Hood of Florida; two brothers, Joseph Hood of Bay Minette and John Hood of Indiana; a sister, Brenda Hood McDonald of Indiana; grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his beloved pets.
An informal gathering for family and friends will be held Aug. 7, 2014, at 6 p.m., at Alabama Point Beach (east access), at the picnic area by the boardwalk.
