HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The University of Alabama in Huntsville presented undergraduate and graduate degrees during spring commencement on  May 11 in the Von Braun Center Arena.

•Ann Louise Ledford of Daphne

•Amanda Gates Duffell of Foley: master’s

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The University of Alabama in Huntsville has released its scholars list for the spring semester.

The list includes undergraduate students completing a minimum of 12 undergraduate hours in this semester. Scholars are designated as those completing the semester with a grade point average  of 3.0 — 3.4999, and Honor Scholars are those with a GPA of 3.5 — 3.999.

Honor Scholars from the Mobile Bay area include Morgan Manley and Natalie Woodham of Daphne.

BIRMINGHAM — Three Daphne residents were named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Samford University.

Jessica Eva Johnson, Mitchell Joseph Payne and Caroline Lee Williams made the list.

GREAT BEND, Ark. — Barton County Community College has named 199 students to the dean’s list for the spring semester — including a Daphne woman.

Esther Ellison appears on the list. To qualify, students must have enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintained a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.99 on a 4.0 or “A” letter scale.

SEARCY, Ark. — Emily Rucker of Daphne was among the Harding University students included on the school’s dean’s list for grades achieved during the spring semester.

Rucker is a sophomore who has an undecided major.

To be eligible, a student must carry 12 or more hours and have an average scholarship level of 3.65 minimum.

SEWANEE, Tenn. — Callie Combs of Spanish Fort has been named to the dean’s list at the University of the South for the Easter 2008 term. To earn a place on Sewanee’s list, a student must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.625 on a 4.0 scale.

Combs’ parents are Mr. and Mrs. Leo Paul Vaulin.

The University of the South, known as Sewanee, is an independent liberal arts college located on a 10,000-acre campus atop the Cumberland Plateau between Nashville and Chattanooga, and owned by 28 Southeastern dioceses of the Episcopal Church.

BOCA RATON, Fla. — Kathryn Reed of Daphne received academic honors at Lynn University by making the dean’s list in the spring academic term.

Reed, an undecided-major sophomore, earned a GPA of 3.5 or better, to qualify for the list.

Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla., is an independent, nonprofit university. Founded in 1962 and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, it enrolls more than 2,500 students representing 40 states and 84 nations.

 WACO, Texas — Katherine A. Robertson of Daphne was named to the dean’s list at Baylor University.

More than 2,600 students were named to the list for the spring semester. A student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7, while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

 A private Christian university, Baylor is classified as a research university with

“high research activity” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, according to a news release.
