BAY MINETTE, Alabama — The Candy Cane Lane event given by the Old Town Bay Minette Arts Council in Rex Courtyard on Nov. 30  was a charming, intimate start to the Christmas season in Bay Minette.

Candy canes with arts-related quotations attached adorned the foliage, and patrons were encouraged to take them.

Vendors displayed their wares and entries in the art competition hung around the courtyard.

Mayor Bob Wills announced the winner, Sherry Dean. The mayor also officiated the lighting of the Christmas tree. There were also portraits with Santa Claus, a reading of The Night Before Christmas, face painting, food, and fantastic music.
